Mr-S-BurrellMr Burrell sees women with many different gynaecological problems and aims to provide the most effective options for treatment in a caring and professional way. He sees both self funding & insured patients at Spire Harpenden Hospital.

Special Interests

He is the lead clinician for hysteroscopic surgery at the Luton & Dunstable Hospital and has special interests in treating women with heavy periods and pelvic pain, and in hysteroscopic and laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery. Mr Burrell offers conservative treatments for heavy periods as well as the latest advances in endometrial ablation and performs hysterectomy when other options are not suitable. Having undergone specific training he is able to perform laparoscopic hysterectomy in addition to more traditional abdominal and vaginal methods.

He has a particular interest in the management of endometriosis which can cause pain and subfertility and performs laparoscopic surgery to provide a definitive diagnosis. Laparoscopy allows laser treatment to relieve symptoms & enables a faster recovery than other surgery methods. Mr Burrell finds it very rewarding to see women who have benefited from such surgery.
